14 Secrets to Have Shiny & Glossy Hair

We all want healthy and shiny hair, but daily we unknowingly (or knowingly…ahem…flat ironing on the highest setting!) sabotage that gorgeous shine. Here, we’ve complied a list of hair crimes to avoid and how to restore your color to its full glory.

1. Product Junky: Don’t overuse styling products like wax, crèmes, and sprays. It can dull hair and change your color.
2.Use multi-tasking miracle products that provide styling and treatment all in one and are specifically created for color-treated hair.

3. Heat styling tools like blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons can all lead to damage and dullness. Keep these down to once per week…Eek! We know it’s hard.
4.Have a styling session with your hair and try new styles using minimal heat. Our favorite casual ‘dos: Beach Waves, Sleek Top Knot, Fishtail Braid or a Low Side Bun

5.When you blow dry (once per week), always point the nozzle down the hair shaft. Light will reflect off the smooth strands to create a shiny finish.
6.Take color breaks every 4 to 6 weeks. There’s never a reason to color more often than that.

7. If your hair is already color-treated, do root touch-ups instead of all-over color. Applying hair color to previously colored hair can lead to over-processing.
8.Making dramatic transitions to your hair color in a short period of time like going from blonde to black is harsh on hair. Gradually shift’a shade to reach your color goal.

9.When choosing a hair color, pick a shade that has a bit of vibrancy in the tone, such as golden, bronze or red in the shade descriptor.
10.Think of color as the finish to your hair like a lip gloss or sheer color treatment.Use a color gloss once per month to restore shine. Try: Shine Happy.

11.Glossy hair starts with health hair, so be selective about the products and tools you use. Ammonia can dry out hair, so look for hair color that’s 100% ammonia-free. Try: Natural Instincts. It’s clinically proven to be less damaging.
12.Did you know demi-permanent color is gentle enough to be used as a color gloss? Pick a shade that matches your natural shade and use it as a color masque once per month. It treats hair with conditioners and vitamins and adds a sheer coat of color.

13.Since demi-permanent hair color can’t lighten locks (it can only darken or enhance), pick a slightly lighter shade than your current color to give your hair a boost of shine.
14.Wearing the wrong hair color, like a shade that’s too ashy or too flat, can create the illusion of dull hair.

HOW TO ADD LOW LIGHTS TO HAIR-- Unce.com Suggestion

If you like your color but are feeling a little too one-dimensional or if you are feeling too light overall, we’ve created this easy-peasy tutorial to adding low lights to your hair. Pro Tip: For first timers, it will take a little practice getting the hang of “painting” the color onto your hair on a foil. Use conditioner in the place of hair color and follow the steps below until you get the hang of it! So here we go…

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
1 box Natural Instincts
Hair color foils (they are easier to use than regular aluminum foil since they are a thinner weight)
Hair color brush and bowl
4 plastic clips
Rat-tail comb
Dark towels
Timer

Step 1
Determine what level (degree of lightness to darkness) you hair is.
Step 2
Pick your low light shade. Keeping in mind your current color, choose a shade that is 2 shades DARKER with golden tone. The golden tone will safeguard your hair from turning an off-tone just in case your hair is porous and/or damaged.
Step 3
Using a rat-tail comb, create a center part down the middle of your head. You’ll use this as a guide for placing low lights.
Step 4
Mix the liquid from the color bottle and developer bottle into the bowl, stirring with the brush.
Step 5】
Take a thin section of hair no more than 1/8 of an inch wide along your center part and put a foil under it. Until you are an old pro at this, stick to placing the low lights on to the top surface of your hair, along both sides of your part. If you feel like you have the hang of it, then you can try doing a section underneath the top layer for even more dimension.
Step 6
With that free hand, dip your brush into the color and paint it down the strand starting near the scalp, running it down to the end. Be careful not to put too much color on the brush!
Step 7】
Fold the foil. Repeat this process moving along your part line to the back of the head leaving to 1-inch space between each foil. You should end up with about 4 foils per side for a total of 8.
Step 8】
Set the timer for 10 minutes…Pour yourself a glass of milk!
Step 9
When time’s up, remove all foils and immediately rinse out the color.
Step 10】
Apply conditioner all over to seal in color and shine.

Here, we’re using Natural Instincts because it is a demi-permanent color that doesn’t lighten hair. It can only deposit color and that’s what you want to achieve a low light effect – darker pieces that don’t lighten. Keep in mind that demi-permanent color will gradually fade away since it is not a permanent color. If you like your results, you’ll need to do this again after 20-28 shampoos.

Use a round brush to style and set your hair quickly. (You can also use a flat iron to smooth out your strands)

On the one hand, there are three habits to maintain the elasticity of curly hairs. First, insisting on using elastin. After washing your hairs every time, leave your hairs to dry naturally whenever possible. Until they are drying, putting on some elastin at the end of the hair evenly, using fingers pulp to take your hairs up and become fluffy, or with your hand to the hairs upward. Then, braiding the hair when you are sleeping. The hairs are divided into two strands into fish-bone braids before you go to the bed, at the end of the series are firmly fixed with elastic bands, directly fall asleep. The next morning, using disposable hair spray to wet the braids slightly before opening the braids, then with the balance hair dryer blowing a changeless hairstyle, and with your hands mess up the braid, so you will have a beautiful curly hair. Applying beer to the washed hair evenly, gently massaging for 10 minutes and rinsing with water. Or taking a few drops of olive oil on the hair, washing the hair after cover the hair with hot towel for 10 minutes, and then rinsing after using the hair conditioner, hair will be soft and smooth.

Last but not the least, clever use of modeling tools. Using a little wax or fluffy powder in many times for hair styling, blowing the hair dry, evenly rubbing a little wax in the palm, lightly wiping the ends as the center with your fingers, then lifting and layering the hair, twisting the ends with the wax remaining in the fingertips to grasp the sense of hierarchy. Especially, using fingers to comb in reverse, getting the hair fluffy, letting the hair naturally fall after grasping to enhance the sense of fluffy.

2.Wear your hair in a ponytail.
